Glad you are going to try Otto. Not surprised about Stevo, he was good to me at first. I would drop by every once in a while with something minor and get his opinion or something that took 2 mins. to adjust, he wouldn't charge me. However, I found after awhile he was gouging - and as I said performing work that wasn't approved. Yup I don't trust him either. Last time I went to him I was in a hurry and couldn't get to Otto at Rayburn, one of my hoses going to the engine was leaking oil, he pulled out a wire cutter cut off a 1/4 inch and pushed it back on, I greatly relieved asked him what I owed him - he said $20. will do it - yeah I think I was given the screw off. Previously my wiper fluid was dribbling out on one side - he replaced all the wiper hoses. Fluid still wasn't getting out - I had a look and one of the NEW hoses was being pinched by the hood - (as you said sloppy) still didn't work when I adjusted them - in the end I attached a sewing needle to a wine cork and poked it in the fluid exit and voila - fixed. I have never felt comfortable with him as I think he didn't appreciate my car.
On the other hand Otto dotes on my vehicle. I love Otto and his wife who works front of house. When my ignition switch broke down he quoted me 2 hrs plus parts, when he went in there all the wires had melted and it was uber labour intensive getting it off - it took him a couple of days - 8 hrs. labour, and sourced the whole mechanism used - he only charged me for two hours. Simple jobs like an alternator on a new vehicle are a snap but with mine it can triple the time or more as the bolts and parts are literally welded on there - he curses, rants and gets extremely frustrated but still only charges me the book price. Tell him the woman with the 300D sent you.
Yes I am selling my '84 300D, which I adored but it was getting rusty. I park it underground so have not had a problem with it in the winter. I am not able to do body work and don't have an extra parking space or I would keep her. I came in to some money and thought that I had better get a newer vehicle while I had the cash. It is listed here as well as on Kijiji and auto trader. I am getting a little concerned as the insurance runs out at the end of the month! Let me know if you are interested, have suggestions or know people who may be interested in it. I bought a 2001 Honda Accord EX and couldn't be more pleased.
