Oh, so he didn't retire? Didn't know he simply moved. Good news for MB people, the guy is good at what he does.

Hi all,

Looking for a veteran mechanic that can help me get my 116 to spark.

1977 Mercedes 450 SE made in Germany.

Car is in Kitchener and would prefer nearby. I can also bring it to Toronto if there is a good specialist there.

I have tried 2 mechanics so far that said they could get it going but because it's an old car takes longer to diagnose the issue so a mechanic that can devote more time to the car would be nice.

Call Andy at Clarkson Fine Cars in Mississauga. He'll get it started no problem.

A few summers ago he had THREE R107 SL's at the same time (he may only have 5-10 cars at a time so three at once was a lot!). They were all coming out of winter storage and wouldn't start for various reasons. One had started the engine and blown rusty fuel tank bits through the fuel lines, fuel distributor, injectors, etc. He said if he knew ahead of time, he would have told them to tow it in "as is" before trying to start it, because he could have flushed the tank, had it recoated, and the car would have been fine.

So call and talk to him before you do anything.. he'll advise you on the best course of action.

He used to work at an MB dealer and has had his own shop for quite a few years. He will do it properly for you.

Had service done at Prestige Auto recently and was very impressed. Ayub knows his stuff. He also took the time to explain what he did and why he did it. Even showed me the parts he replaced and why they needed replacing. Highly recommend.

I'll also recommend Werner at Eramosa Motors. Knowledgeable, honest and fair prices.

Werner's Auto in Galt (beside the old arena) just had a look at my wagon today. Very good first impression - didn't try to sell me on any unnecessary work, and they gave me a loaner for the day. Going back in a week to see what codes pop back up.
