FOUND REASONABLY PRICED EXPERT MB MECHANIC
I finally found a reasonably priced mechanic in Hamilton that's an expert in diagnosing and fixing MBs issues. CEL lit up on my 2000 ML320 showing PO170 and, PO173 fault codes so after months of unsuccessful diagnosing with local mechanics (no help at Guru Auto Service with this problem) and replacing wrong parts but learning a lot about my Panzer finally I broke down and took the truck to MB Dealer in Burlington for diagnosis .
The two of their best Techs (as per MB Dealer) and after three visits and, three different diagnosis plus $200 diagnostic charge they described this issue as ''Chronic CEL problem" and, recommended replacing Intake Manifold Gaskets ($35 worth of parts and 4-5 hours labor at $135/hour)!!.
I didn't trust them so looked again for a second opinion and found this genius that was actually recommended by another auto shop in Hamilton that sends all their cars they have trouble fixing themselves to him.
I checked him out, discussed what was done so far to the truck to no avail he told me he was willing to spend couple of hours diagnosing this problem and if he couldn't fix it, no charge!, who does that?, I love this guy.
Couple days later in less than half an hour he found the problem part, we went for a test ride with a scanner to confirm the diagnosis and, CEL has been off since, PROBLEM FIXED. For someone who has 36 yrs experience fixing high end cars, has specialized auto technical education and is an expert in scanner diagnostics he's not a heavy hitter so I highly recommend him however, right now he's recovering at home from a recent health scare but I am in touch with him and as soon as I find out when he's due back in the shop I'll advice.
