Went last week to see Victoria at Norwescan. She got my ML320's check engine light problem fixed with no fuss or any "hard sell", and charged me very reasonably - less than an hour's rate only, to diagnose and replace/install the necessary parts. Victoria was frank and honest in telling me that she makes a little something on the cost of the parts. KarlBenzSF was exactly right that "the good thing is that her shop is always booked. She has a very low possibility of trying to "fix as much as the shop could"....

The truck is now running very efficiently, thus my gas mileage has improved considerably. Whatever I had paid for labor (which is really very reasonable) is well worth it in terms of what I will be saving in gas.

I took my 2007 SLK 350 into Juan's Auto Service in Richmond. They got me in very quickly after just one day. They were really friendly, professional and explained things very well. Prior to bringing my car into the shop my brakes were periodically making noise when I would brake, the check engine light was on, the srs light was on, and the lower left front light was out.

The invoice seems a little high to me ($1279), but I'm not an expert in this field so any feedback would be beneficial to me. So, I've attached my invoice to this post for you guys to determine whether or not the invoice for the work done is reasonable or not.

Juan also said that the labour charge was $115/hour and they charged for 3.3 hours, but he said that they actually worked on the car for over 4 hours. So, the labour came out to $379.50 plus gst and pst. I don't know why they charged me pst though.

Also, they charged $100 for oil.. is that a reasonable price?

Also, please note that they used after market parts.

55$ and 98$ for just two sets of AIRFILTERS? You can throw me 30 dollars and I'll buy it for you...

Those charges certainly look so high and inflated, specially the 'aftermarket' air and cabin filters. Juan's knows how to fix German (Mercedes/BMW/Porche) cars, but they do charge too much based on this experience/instance. They also know how to overcharge customers! You can call the local MB dealer, with original MB parts, and compare the prices of the parts Juan charged you.

I will probably never go back there if it was me. Thank you for sharing.

There are couple of small indie shops right beside each other in Richmond near the River Rock Casino that do a lot of MBs and BMWs. I have not tried them but they seem to be busy most times I passed by their shops.

Thanks for your feedback guys. I contacted MB Service Centre in Richmond for the parts. These are their quotes:

Air filter $78.15
Cabin filter $138.55
Cam adjuster $311.50

I paid $25 (set of 2) and $38 (set of 2) for my filters, but not OEM brand.

I'd say they're doing at least 50-80% markup on parts/oil prices.

What is the camshaft adjuster? I just looked at mymercedesparts.com for your car model and I see nothing that could either be $44 or $311 for that matter. They must be talking different things for such a variance.

For work on your car, maybe try The Euro Shop.
604 507 0705
7945 132nd Street at 80th Ave in Surrey

It's a small shop, but it's super clean and they do great work.
(Unlike some other indy shops that are so messy)
They charge about $85 per hour I believe.
Best of all, their attitude is in customer service and he doesn't treat you like crap if you bring in your own parts.

Tell him Sl55 Vince sent you.

Hi, I'm a newbie here and bought a 2013 C300 last year. I'm due for the first ever scheduled maintenance which I believe is the A-service. Are there any recommendations on where to go? Should I go to a Benz dealer as my car is still under warranty? If so, which dealer and how much should I expect to pay?

Thanks very much.

For the warranty concern, you need to contact your dealership. If you leased the vehicle, you must undergo dealer's maintenance procedure.

Besides, you expect to pay a lot for a dealership maintenance.

Just like what KarlBenzSF said, since your car is still under warranty, I think you should go to a dealer. Sorry but I have no specific dealership to recommend or suggest as I bought my truck used and have only gone to independent repair shops. Good luck.

actually, a service B visit costs more than an iPad, that's how I should describe the cost properly
