Hi All, I’m hoping someone can help me with a problem I have with my airmatic suspension on a 2007 CLS 320CDI. Just recently the malfunction warning for the suspension showed on the display (not the do not drive one) – this appears some time after driving and not instantly on starting.
The ride height appears ok, but now is perhaps getting a little lower at the front. From starting and not driving, trying to the raise the suspension by pressing the button near the gear selector does not appear to raise the car and shortly after the malfunction warning comes on again.
It seems that the compressor is not running to supply any new air to the system. I have been looking for the pre-fuse box F32 to locate the 40A compressor fuse –but cannot find it! In the passenger foot well I have removed the mat, pulled back the fixed mat and removed the metal foot plate. I can see a number of thick wires bolted to ground but no fuse box in sight! I also looked on the driver side.
Please could someone tell me where I should look for the f32 pre fuse box - it does not appear to be where it is shown on the WIS ?
I don’t want to cave in and take it to the stealer.
The attached is what the front engine compartment fuse box looks like - but seems different to the diagram shown on the WIS. I'm looking for the airmatic compressor pump k67
Decided to access the compressor. Connected a multi meter to the compressor motor supply and got 0v with engine running and non running. Seems like there is no power going to the compressor. Wires at the connectors seem ok.
now having jacked the front up and back down again, the front is much lower as I could hear some of the valves releasing air - which I though it may do. When I put the key in the ignition I now get the message Vehicle rising please wait, However the pump is not running and the vehicle does not rise.
Still looking for the airmatic relay and fuse - anyone had difficulty finding it before ? Looking at the previous threads it seems to have been where expected. Could the location have changed or be different for a uk spec ?
ok found relay k67, it was in the top left of the fuse box rather then the bottom left.
Took the relay out and tested the relay socket for +12v on the switching contact - it was ok and showed 12v - so this means fuse 74 in the prefuse box must be ok. Shorted out the switching circuit (the relays job) and the pump runs.
I started the car and linked out the relay to run the pump - the pump runs but the car does not rise
I checked the signal to the relay socket and would of expected 12v telling the relay to switch and the pump to run - however I didn't get anything, 0v
So it seems like the relay is not getting its signal to tell the pump to run.
so what happened to your airmatic system eventually? My compressor is not running, so I changed to a brand new compressor, new fuse, and new relay, it still wouldn't run?
You seem to very good on analyzing the issue from electrical angle. My 2007 GL 320 CDI just went in for a service, and lately I noticed my left front side of the vehicle intermittently lays down on the wheel when parked ... seems like the air suspension sometimes does not keep it up. They just told me that a relay is missing strangely enough? Not sure how it worked before without the relay they are referring to then? .. mysterious world. By the way, from your photo's .. what tyres are you using on your GL? as it looks way different (rougher) to the limited tyre options available for these 19" rimmed vehicles?
Try using the switch on the console to raise the car. If it raises the car then the system is functioning but most probably a sensor is shot. Good luck
Hi all please help currently working on 2010 cls airmatic pump not working changed the compressor and relay still no power and checked all fuses in front and inside car and in boot took of the floor on passenger side for pre fuse box is not there any one knows where the pre fuse box is for cls thanks
Hi. Did you manage to solve the problem? I think I am having the same issues and am eliminating the cheap components first ie fuse, relay and then on to compressor.
Hey guys this isn't your father's 65 Chevy. You need to SCAN the vehicle and then interpret the codes. The vehicle will have you chasing your tails there is so much electronic equipment in it. It could be a CAN problem. It could be anything but until you scan it you don't know. And don't get a cheapie scanner. You paid big bucks for the car and can get a Star 4 Diagnostic System for under a grand. Best money I ever spent next to buying the car. Good luck.
Mine came from a Chinese company. Seems they are the only ones producing this product that has any quality control. The original German ones run about 12k and must be updated yearly. Clearly meant for your stealer not the guy keeping track of his own vehicle. Mine has worked flawlessly (knock on wood) since purchased over a year ago and I’m extremely satisfied with this unit. But don’t go cheap. Some will sell you a hard drive and cables and then you must find a computer and set it up and most computers don’t play well with it. Get the system that is on the computer already. Mine cost around 850 and change.
But WHICH chinese company? Do you still have the link? There are A LOT of chinese Star System copies and I know that some people on Benzworld have had issues with some not actually booting, some not talking to the car and various other problems.
Snap On Solus II seems to be a good choice too. Not sure what it's capabilities are vs a Star System clone/copy.
If you pull down that insulation you will see the fuse box mounted.
