When I bought mine they were the same size rims all the way around 18"x8.5". those tires were 255/40/18.

If you are getting staggered 18"x8.5" in the front & 18"x9.5" in the rear. I'd go with 255's in the front and go with at least 275's or 285's in the rear. The series is all up to you how you want your ride to sit. I have 40 series on mine, because I do a lot of driving, but will move to the 35 series tires when mine are worn out.

fiaromran, the 18 represents the rim diameter size, you probably understand this one (i.e. 18's, 20's, 22's (double-deuces))... the 8.5" or 9.5" represent the rim width (in inches) from lip to lip.

Hope this helps out.

Winter Benz pics

Took some better pics of my '04 CL500 today- thought I'd share a couple. Sold my 4X4, so this is now my "winter ride". So far, so good. Hoping we don't get too much more snow :)

Thanks brother. This info solves a lot of time for me especially research.

Your wheels rock for sure.

P.S.
How come rear tyres are 5mm smaller than fronts?
What is the lip size fronts and rear?

Best tyre size for 19" AMG styling IV rims

Hello all,

Just bought a set off new 19" AMG styling IV rims (8.5" front, 9.5" rear) and I wonder which tyre sizes will work out best:

The MB store man recommends 255x40x19 front and 275x40x19 rear.

The owners manual recommends 245x40x19 front and 275x35x19 rear.

What do you think, what do you use?
