I need to replace the key FOB for my 2007 CLK 550 (cracked and getting worse)
Can I use a later model FOB with the raised buttons and either
1. Relace the electronocs in the case or
2. Reprogram it to work with the 07
Thanks

Keys can't be reprogrammed, even by the dealer. They can order a new key for you, but that's $200+. You can buy another key and swap the electronics, but you do have to buy the exact same style key you have now. There were three styles use - the solid black plastic, the chrome trim with flat buttons (round panic button) and the chrome trim with raised buttons (triangular panic button). The internals will not swap among styles. If you do order a new key, you will get the latest style raised-button chrome key.

I do recall a guy on the forum claimed he could remove the chip from the black plastic key and put it into a donor chrome flat key. Also, I once saw an eBay seller with aftermarket chrome housings that would accept the old plastic style circuity.
