Is the part of the glove box latch that is in the glove box door a service item or part of the whole door assembly? Mine seem to have play in it such that the lever you pull with your fingers contacts the back of the decorative glove box handle before the latch opens.
Unfortunately I don't see a little arrow pointing to the door itself (the practice for showing where a part goes) or a little drawing that looks like the part, so I'm thinkig it's part of the door. What a silly design.
I had a latch problem and was told that you have to replace the entire door. Was going to cost $400+ installed. Luckily i was able to get the latch working again. The door no longer fits as tghtly but it does stay closed.
I recently had a similar problem. The door would latch, but had about 1/4" gap.
It turns out that it wasn't in the door, but the catch in the dash. I had to remove the CDC to access the mounting screw. A few turns with a T-20 wrench to tighten it up, and it closes like new.
Hope this helps.
