Hello Benz world!I've just finished setting up my pnp satellite radio to my 04' CLK.I did hard wired my radio to the cigarette lighter(positive to the blk/ yellow wire/ground to the brown wire but one I've finish the setup and turn on the power to the sat radio,no power at all!! I had to cut the end of the sat radio(blk to blk,ground/ blk/white positive) but it didn't work at all! still no power to the radio!! is there another power source for me to connect too? under dash?????? any wire to connect too, besides the cigarette lighter? need your help asap!
The cigarette lighter plug should be good. I have my radar detector cord hardwired there. Maybe you blew the fuse? Check #47 on the front SAM (engine bay fuse panel). Otherwise, you must have a bad connection, or have tapped into the wrong wires.
The fuse and lighter works fine before, during, and after the install.I've checked the wire to see if the unit was powering up but to no avail, nothing! I've placed the black wire/white stripe from the pnp unit on the black wire/yellow stripe(cig lighter)and the black ground wire to the brown wire(cig lighter) then turned on the ignition and powered up the the sat radio,no power! I've tried to put the ground wire to a screw inside the dash and still no power! well it was late when I did this and I'm thinking that I've put on a screw on a aluminum base! I'll check in the morning to see if it is! Is there another wire(+) that I can tap into besides the cig lighter!
Logic tells you that if your lighter still works then the wire to the lighter is fine and looking for another wire to tap into is a waste of time. You have power so your problem lies elsewhere. Possibilites are:
1) Your "tap" into the wire (+ or-) is not actually making contact.
2) You blew some power protector fuse in you radio
3) Your radio is broken.
You need to test your connections/power supply with something else - a test light or a voltage meter. First make sure you actually have power coming from those wires by eliminating the radio itself from the equation, then once you know you have power, focus on the radio.
