Resynch Key Fob?

Replaced the batteries in my only key fob - 2005 CLK 500 convert. After two days, now the remote is not working - nothing. Can start the car if put fob in the ignition. Read about resynching the fob for different model, but no reference or instruction in my manual. Any ideas. Any one done this before. All help appreciated.

There is no "resync" procedure. Does the red LED on the SmartKey blink when you press its buttons? If not, then you might still have problems with the batteries.

Actually, I found the manual does talk about resynching by holding down both the lock and unlock buttons, for 5 and 6 seconds. It says the battery light should blink 4-5 times in response. Don't know why the change in the amount of time would make a difference. Tried that and I think it worked, but also replaced the batteries. Part of the problem may have been that I had some powerful magnets in my pocket with the fob. In any event, I have my fob working again and the KEYLESS Go. Thanks for the responses.

Holding down the Lock+UNLOCK just toggles the remote feature between locking just the driver's door and all doors. This technically doesn't re-sync the key, but some people claim it helps if the remote is acting flaky.
