2004 CLK 500 oil leak

Oil leaks right from under the oil filler, does this look like a cylinder head/valve cover gasket issue? pics attached. 1st pics is the the area cleaned with brakleen, 2nd shows where the oil is coming from. car has about 60k miles. I'm new to Benz's so any info appreciated.

It seems to me that all that is happening here is a slight leak at the flange where the oil filler is mounted onto the cylinder head cover. Have you tried tightening up the bolts that are showing in the pic?

The gasket under the cylinder head cover appears to be good....Not a major problem here, imo.

thanks for the feedback, i did try to tighten the bolts a bit and i think the oil seepage has slowed. I'll try and tweak it a bit more.

Go easy!

It's well known that folks often strip the threads on the cylinder head (valve) cover bolts through overtightening. This is into the same soft material.

Why not do the reverse, and undo the bolts to examine why the flange is leaking. Is there a paper gasket there? Maybe replace it and use the right sealant when it is refitted.

Rather than tweaking, remove and reseal. That's fairly common for the modular engines.
