I own a 2000 CLK430. I was considering buying a set of AMG Style III CL 215 summer wheels. I should mention that I prefer a slightly exaggerated stock look. However, one thing that bothers me about the stock appearance of the CLK is the wheel stance. As it seems from the measurements and appearance that the overall front wheel width is wider than the rear.
I was wondering if it were possible to use a 7.5x18+37 in the front and a 9.5x18+33 in the rear to bring the front and rear overall widths closer to equal? If so, can I do so while using a 225/40-18 Front and 265/35-18 rear tire fitment without rolling the fenders? It seems to me by using the these fitments that the front wheel widths would stay the same while each rear wheel would stick out 10mm more than the stock fitment, 8.5x17+30. This would bring the overall front and rear wheel width difference to within 10mm, or 5mm on each side, making the difference virtually undetectable. Another concern of mine is that in doing so it may make the rear tires stick out too far spraying dirt and gravel up the side of the body. Does anyone have any information or experience with this that might help me make a decision? Pictures would also be greatly appreciated.
Also I cannot seem to find any pictures of the 208 with the optional AMG Style III CL 215 7.5x18+37 Front and 8.5x18+30 rear wheels. So, if anyone has any pictures of this known wheel fitment I would also greatly appreciate that.
