Hey guys, I'm just trying to buy a pair of HID bulb for my W208 (CLK 2001) and I was wondering Which one I have to get or fit into my car, HID-D2R or HID-D2S or both will fit?
They're often marketed this way because they both have the same base and fit the same socket. Essentially the D2R is a D2S bulb with a metallic reflective mask applied on certain portions of it. This reduces the glare that would otherwise be produced by our CLK's reflector headlights. Projector headlights (like on BMWs or Thrillkill's custom job) by design don't produce that glare and therefore don't need the mask which slightly reduces output. So yes, they both fit, but you want a D2R.
