Java Problem

There appears to be a problem on the last page 78? of the What is ... thread. Specifically, I can't get the page, just one ad by Kleenman? comes up at this post page http://www.benzworld.org/forums/off-...-new-post.html

Hi Jay, no problem here with Mozilla Firefox (best ad blocker). Last post was #1903 on page 191.

Actually, when I clicked the link it took me to the last page (77 on my browser) which was okay. But the post I was trying to get yesterday was on the previous page (76 in my browser), and when I tried going back to the previous page it just came up blank--again. See if you can get the page before the last one.

Are you only viewing 10 posts per page? That's really tedious, you should up that in CP.

And Jay, you should try IE7Pro, a free add-on for IE7/8 which eliminates these ads most of us don't see. Up to you, maybe you like the ads...

No, I always max out # posts/page. It used to be 40 before the latest "improvements," but now I believe it is only 25.

I tried IE7Pro for a couple of weeks, but did not like it at all. It changed a lot my preferences w/out asking and slowed my system down. Very unfriendly add-on IMO, so I uninstalled it a couple months ago.

I'd still like to know why I can't get page 76 to come up...

I've had very positive results with IE7Pro, ads gone, faster browser, etc., but IE is not my usual browser, so I don't have the day to day experience that you have. Sorry to hear your experience wasn't similar, because losing the ads is a really good thing. In any case, I logged off, logged back on as a regular member and experienced no problem accessing page 76 with Firefox, IE7, or IE7 with ad-blocking disabled (all with 25 posts per page). Try changing your posts per page settings as an experiment, it may help identify the culprit.

Thanks, I'll try that. But this is a problem unlike any I've ever had before. It is weird! I occasionally get a Java script ad on page 76 w/ everything else blank, which is why I thought it might be a Java-related problem.

Re. PRO, I am not sure what ads you are talking about. My IE7 pop-up-blocker stops everything I don't want to see. The only ads I ever see are the banner-ads at the top and bottom of BW pages, which do not bother me at all. So I am a happy camper for the most part--except for WYSIWYG, Luke and 25 v 40 posts/page that is...
