LOL nicely put.

i decided to pop in there just to see (as i leave nearby) and was not impressed with what I saw or was told...

Basically, the existing owner has since sold the shop in the last 2 months so who knows what the new owners are like now?

Also, when I rang Enzo's for some quotes, their A and B service pricing was no different than the dealership's.

Might give Auto Studio a go as per my previous post..

A couple of other ideas:

Mainstyle Motors MAINSTYLE MOTORS - Home

Mitchell Automotive Mercedes Service Adelaide | Angus Mitchell Automotive | Benz ServiceAngus Mitchell

I don't have any experience with either but just thought I'd mention them in case anyone wants to check them out (please report back )

A mate of mine went to Enzo's for an auto transmission service; a fair bit cheaper than the dealer. It was ok but he was a bit disappointed with the hand written (scribbled) invoice (and he had to ask for that!). Not a very professional image for a 'premium' service provider and the prices you pay.

I've decided to do all mine myself (so far). I know people want a full service history when it comes to selling, but I intend to keep my car for quite a long time and it won't be worth much when I sell it anyway, and I'm saving thousands. It was a difficult decision though.

I'm not from Adelaide however I do know who to go to for MB problems, Olaf Zaworski. He lived up here in Brisbane a few years ago working for Three Point which is where I also worked and met him. Extremely knowledgeable with all things MB and a really great guy! He used to work for the main dealer down there but is now on his own. His contact details are: Phone: 8346 2650 Address: 26 Ninth Street, Bowden SA 5007.

My E55 AMG has been running progressively worse over a 2 month span. The power has decreased steadily so it now feels like less than 50% of what it should be. I had stopped driving it altogether because of how bad it was running so I took it to Krause last week and had a great chat with the salesperson(?) who seemed a nice guy and competent. He wrote down all that I had been experiencing then said he was going to have a meeting with the mechanics the following day to discuss what the issue could be, then run diagnostics to see if the results correspond to what they had discussed so they could then determine the best solution. He explained 2 of the mechanics had 25 years each experience with solely Benz and the 3rd mechanic had 10 years experience. I was confident the car was in the right hands.

The following day the head mechanic phoned and said the car was running great, had impressive performance, drove well and the diagnostics hadn't shown any errors. I wondered if I had missed something or was just being pedantic - surely not - I tell you what, they almost fooled me! I picked the car up and put my foot down a little considering their enthusiasm and within a day or two the car was running so poorly and hot that I couldn't possibly drive it any further. I thought the motor was on the verge of catastrophic damage. Eventually a mechanic mate and myself finally worked out the supercharger was totally shot and appears not to be even working now - decreasing the power by about 60 or 70 percent! And Krause reckons it was "impressive" and "running well". It feels like s%&t - I don't know what they normally drive?

So anyway I would really like to take the car to an AMG specialist to confirm our diagnosis with the supercharger and tell me if it can be repaired or if I'm up for a replacement. Can anyone suggest who my best bet is in Adelaide?

Hi TheTherapist,
I have had good experiences at Frank Wanns with my ML270CDI. They diagnosed quite a complicated interactive problem with the EGR valve not coming on intermittently, hence no turbo, hence no oomph! Wanns have the current diagnosis software, etc, and his prices are a little better than the main dealer.
W203 C350 serviced by aforesaid main dealer, so far so good....
For my old 1968 W114 230, Lee at Circle Star motors (side street off Castle Plaza) did an excellent job of setting up the twin carburettors from scratch, so the car runs extremely well now. An electronic ignition from Hotspark in the USA was also a very worth while improvement, fitted by Bill Thomas of MB Autos. He also carried out the R&R of the cylinder head.

So you can see I shop around a bit, selecting who I think is likely to do the best job for the particular vehicle.
I hope you can get the problem sorted out - it's no fun driving a suboptimal vehicle!
best regards
David
