Hi all,

I have a 2002 CLK320 with the built-in Timeport phone option. The TimePort phone is beat up. How can I retrofit to use the newer V60 phone? Have anyone done this? If the dealer does it, how much does it cost?

Currently:

2001: BQ 682 0563 Mercedes Timeport (kit includes PSE, dual band compensator, HF switch) $800

Mercedes Motorola Timeport phone $495 (Dual-band, Tri-mode)
800 MHz Analog and CDMA and 1900 MHz CDMA

Wants to change to:

2002: BQ 682 0707 Mercedes V.60 (kit includes PSE, the compensator/amplifier, HF switch) $1020

Mercedes Motorola V.60c phone $595 (Dual-band, Tri-mode)
800 MHz Analog and CDMA and 1900 MHz CDMA

Buy the phone and the handset (which you didn't list). Then check your PSE to see if it has a blue label (or a part number compatible with the v60i). If it does not, you will need the PSE (just the PSE... your car's compensator, switch and antenna/wiring should work fine for the new phone).

This has been discussed at some length on mbworld.org ... you may want to check there (and do a search).

More info ....

Hi,

Scorchie is correct. You should only need the V60 phone and cradle/holder. The cradle/holder part number is BQ682-0725. You will need to order the correct part number phone that supports your current service provider. If you tell me your service provider and zipcode I can get the proper phone number for you. The PSE in your vehicle should be part number Q682-0754 on a blue label like Scorchie stated. If it's -0460 it will need to be replaced.

I just did a Benzworld pub you can read which will give you some good general info at:

http://www.benzworld.org/publications/pub.asp?id=159

It will direct you to another website where you can download the Mercedes phone manual. I also have the Mercedes Install Bulletin for your MY and model. Contact me by E-mail and I will send it to you. Let me know if your CLK is a Cabriolet or not.

Clarification and Correction

Thanks for the info. My car is actually a 2001 CLK 320 hardtop. So I need to buy BQ682-0725. I then check the PSE. If it is BQ682-0460, then I need to buy Q682-0754. There a many phones that Motorola and Verizon uses, can you help? My zip code is 22182.

Thanks,

Hi BT,

The PSE won't be -0460 ... That one only works with StarTac phones. More than likely it will be a -0648. If it is -0648 you need to replace the PSE with a -0754 or the latest one would be better which is a -0845.

The Verizon version of the V60i phone number in your zipcode location is Q682-0854.

Do you want a copy of the install instructions? If so contact me by E-mail ....
