Question Retrofit a comand in my W204 C class

Im trying to retrofit a original command unit in my W204 C class. The display won’t open, any one got a wiring diagram for the connections to the display?(I’m suspecting that there is a wiring problem since I don’t have the close switch fitted by the went outlet.)
The sound doesn’t work, could it be a problem that my car isn’t fitted with a fiber optic cable?, or should it work even if I don’t have the sound system?
Grateful if someone could answer me on this questions?

I have not done it but I've been thinking about either Comand or Universal Media Interface for the car I've ordered (Comand from factory is ridiculously expensive for us). How much did you pay for the parts by the way?

Did you have the retrofit wiring harness or have you tried to use existing wires?

Are you planning to install the additional fan too? I wonder if it is really needed in hot countries only or everywhere.

Should take some photos and post once you have figured out the whole thing (or even part of it).

Welcome to the forum too.

Sounds like you bought my unit. I was looking at one from Lithuania but did not dare to buy it, the price was a lot lower than that from other sellers that are well known (not in a hurry either, don't have the car yet). I wonder if the wiring kit would have been part of the kit from those others.

You might well need the blower in Norway next summer, but you can put it then if it appears necessary.

I have not compared the wiring but even the Audio 20 is connected to both CAN A and B. I have not seen the connectors either, perhaps they fit but the official retrofit kit would have a wiring loom for some reason.

Is there a official retrofit kit ?
My dealer says it cant be done!!!!! but acording to every seller on EBay its no problem.
The conector to the head unit fits well, the only thing im missing is the fiber optic cable (it not in my car) it comunicates with the dispaly in dashboard so i think the canbus is ok.
I wonder way i cant get any sound, could it be a programming issu?

Do you need the fibre cable? Do you have some devices on the fibre ring?

I don't know about the coding and I've asked a few times but have not seen any replies on Comand or UMI coding issues. I've understood that even the HU is SCN coded on a W204, could be that it does not communicate with the rest of the car before it the car is coded to accept it. I hope you get experts' comments on that (me too then).

Have you read your private mail by the way?

C300 Lux, no Nav, but has SAT

oddu and Diesel Benz; Hello and Happy New Year, oddu, congratulations on the compeltion of the retrofit. I am looking to accomplish the same I am going to purchase a 2008 C300 lux, which already has satellite radio but no Nav. I kinda don't want the UMI as it does not integrate into the existing speaker system. So since I completed an installation of a command system into my current C230, I am ready to tackle the next challenge in the new car. \

What part numbers should I look for to gather the correct parts?

A list of steps and required tools would also be useful to me

Also, you mentioned that the cable to feed info to the instrument panel was not there on your car, how did you resolve this?

I plan to check out the cable harness part numbers for my car and a C300 Sport to determine the difference.

Any help will be most appreciated.

Regards

Nuru

In case oddu is not available soon, I'll just say that you seem to be from the US and would then need a different Comand head unit (the display unit must be the same).

I don't think oddu talked about a missing cable to the cluster, on the contrary, the cluster talks with the Comand through an existing CAN-bus, that should be fine in your car too.

I'm quite confused about your UMI interface comment, why would it not use the existing speaker system? That would not make any sense with MP3 players etc.
