| Recurring CD changer problem When I bought my S500, it had a CD changer in it but the magazine was missing. Thinking this was a minor problem, I bought a magazine. It did not work, the message form the COMAND system was 'No CD Changer'. So I then took it to an independant Mercedes dealer and was told the cd changer was faulty. I could either buy another one or have this one repaired. I chose to search ebay and buy a second hand one. I did find one and connected it up. It didn't work. Thinking it was my COMAND system that was causing the failure, I had the cd changer tested in another S500. I didn't work in that one either, so I returned the item and got a refund.
I then bought another one (second hand from ebay), and connected it, it worked fine.
That was until I was on a road trip to Scotland. Halfway up, I took a rest stop and turned the car off. When I returned, I got the error message 'No CD Changer'. However, the radio or cassette player did not work either, nor did the sat nav (no sound).
When I reached scotland, I tried unplugging the cd changer and re-connecting it. Nothing. The radio, cassette player and sat nav audio started working, but the CD changer is not.
I'm very stressed about this, but do not want to pay £500 for a new CD changer.
Any positive help welcomed.
Oh, I've already tried disconnecting the negative on the battery-nothing. Then I tried the 'sling rubber tape thing', nothing. I also tried ejecting the magazine and pressing eject a couple of times-NOTHING. |
