Last month I purchased a Mercedes Bluetooth adaptor for my SL500. For some reason I would hear a load hiss sound and all the devices on the D2B would go dead. I have to power off and power on my Command for everything to work. I checked all the connections and determined that my Sirius receiver was the cause. The Sirius receiver would make a lot of clicking sounds when the devices would go dead on the D2B buss.
A little bird in me told me to replace the Sirius antenna and splitter. I replaced the splitter and my signal stop dropping. I kept losing my Sirius signal and I thought it was just getting a bad signal. Last week my SIRmini antenna came in and I replaced the old SIRmini antenna.
My Sirius music is a lot clearer and my D2B buss has not gone dead. I would never have thought that a Sirius antenna would knock out the D2B BUSS. My CD player, Sirius receiver, and Mercedes Bluetooth adaptor works perfectly now without going dead.

Even if you have seen it yourself, I don't believe a bad antenna as such would make the D2B bus go dead.
Perhaps the Sirius receiver is somehow faulty and gets confused when losing signal and confuses the D2B bus too. If there is not fix to the receiver itself, then your advice is very useful.

In my younger days I was a Network Engineer and an IBM LAN ADMIN. I have seen devices like printers connected to a PC that would take down an IBM token ring network. Sometimes a wrong printer driver would take down an IBM token ring network.
The Sirius antenna has circuits. Therefore it is capable of taking out other devices that is connected to it. I have attached a picture of my Sirius antenna.

Like CalifSLK mentioned, if you put poor SW on sale, anything can happen. I'm assuming the same for your token ring experience. I did already agree that a similar issue could be the case with the Sirius receiver but my interpretation is then that the antenna does not cause the problem but the bad SW or something else at the actual Sirius receiver. Doesn't make a big difference if the outcome is the same though, except if there is a cure for the receiver itself (even if the bad antenna anyway needs to be fixed).

The "hiss" that you hear before you lose sound is characteristic of the D2B bus connection breaking. This can be caused by a loose optical connector (e.g. connector not snapped in all the way and periodically breaking contact) or also by a defective module on the D2B ring or even by a module losing power. The antenna issue you described would not cause a loss of sound except when you were listening to sirius. Its possible that when you changed the antenna you reseated the optical or power connector which was loose and thats what fixed the problem.
