I was not saying that a defective speaker was not a cause for the problem but only that if the speaker tested OK there might be some other cause. I have had my center speaker replaced three times with the most recent replacement happening last week after it started buzzing again less than a year after the service bulletin was completed.
You can find the bulletin in this thread: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...er-busted.html

i have a chrysler exstended warranty on my car(they are major pricks so stay away from the if you buy used) and finally got them to replace the center channel speaker and also once and a greak wile the assenger front door speakers would make some wired poping sounds and the dealer tested them and they where blown so the replaced them also with a cost of about 500 for the three speakers( passenger tweeter, mid and the center channel) and thats installed buy my warranty is covering it.
im used to really high end aftermarket stereo so and factory system dont seem that good but after having a new 08 c300 with the base stereo vs the h/k in my car the h/k is much better. the benz base system is no better than and thing in a nissan or in that range of car. when i got to pick up my car im going to look at a new cls and drive it(might get one in a few months) and see how they sound on the newer cars.
and im glad i helped so people with the writeup.

Do you guys know if MD dealers test the woofer for free? Mine makes some popping noises for a few weeks now when I turn it up a bit louder than usaual. Also how much does a replacement cost about?

Has nobody an answer for me on this one? Come on guys I know you can do better
No, you can do better with just a little effort on your own behalf. Call your dealer, for Pete's sake. Tell him your car is out of warranty (unless you have extended waranty), and ask if it is covered by a "program." If not, expect to pay.

I dont know if the radio and its components are covered by the extended warranty. I read mine and it covers everything, buzzers horns, solenoids but does not show audio system CTEL or Tel -Aid

So my experience with my service rep... That my veins didn't pop was everything here
He told me the speaker tested fine but they need to replace the speaker to eliminate the rattling noise/distortion. I asked him if he's serious about that or if he's trying to mess with me and I just don't get the joke! I even printed out the service bulletin from the other thread linked in this thread and gave him this to save time and moeny. I asked him why not just doing this if this would help and he speaker is fine?
Now it comes: He asked me seriously how I know that. I counter questioned him who the professional is? I can't believe that those are even allowed to serve customers. The glace with incompetence and greediness. Unbelievable.
Cost for that: 140 USD. I wish I could do it myself but I just couldn't open the plastic cover!
