Does the Audio 20 have a radio code? - NOT a code request!! - Benzworld.org

As a new MB owner (E280 CDI Aventgarde Estate) I've been browsing through the forum getting a feel for the MB world.

I've noticed the issues regarding radio coding. Last week I removed the car battery for a couple of hours to perform a CD changer retrofit but when re-connected I didn't get asked for a code.

There is no mention of codes in the manual and no code card was supplied with the car. Does the Audio 20 have coding or has it been dropped for this model?

I don't think I've disconnected the power lead from mine but a W211 head unit should not have the code any more (Audio 20 equally to Comand). I believe this is the same for a W203. Probably for cars that do not use a standard DIN sized radio but this is just a guess.

Yes, that was my guess too but I thought I would ask the question to pre-empt any potential problems that I might run into in the future.
