Hi guys, newbie poster here.
Have a 2005 CL500 (UK)- fanatstic car - with NOkia 6310i cradle already integrated. The phone worked fine handsfree but for some reason it only now works as a standalone phone. If I dock it with the cradle it never charges and only rarely do I get the little car symbol up on the phone. And if I do, when command is switch on the signal strength and network indicator stay up for only a few seconds before vanishing off screen. if I try the phone remotely the car tells me "no phone is inserted".
Cant think what Ive done? are there any checks or resest of the command unit I can do? I have tried all I know with the phone and this is very frustrating
Help and advise please????
Agree with above. It could be the connector between the cradle and the UHI connector or the cradle and the phone.
First clean everything carefully and check for any bent pins. Could check the connector below the centre compartment false floor and at the back to the control unit. Anyway even a non-compatible phone would start charging (as long as it fits to the cradle).
Thanks guys - I am going to try and find some time in the next two weeks to pop into the MB dealership and get it checked over. I just thought after reading loads of messages about multi buttom command access to engineer codes etc that there may be a quick check I could do myself to prove that the phone recognition settings where still correct.
My wife has just informed me that she has dropped my phone several times on to the floor - now I find out!!!. Still cant see, if that is the cause, why it works OK on its own but not when it docks. Ive checked and cleaned all the pins on phone and cradle and they are in good order and all make contact.
The phone would need the car-kit connector for normal operation, you would even charge it from different pins. It could be an issue with the phone, do you have another phone to try on the car?
Or you could try a headset on the phone if it works, if I remember right, the headset connects to the same pins as the car kit. Also if you have a desk stand you could try if the phone charges there, should use the same pins for charging as in the car kit.
THanks guys - had it checked out and then was able to test it with same phone that belonged to a friend. Lo and behold it was my phone. Got a new replacement and things have returned to normal connectivity and operation.
However now I can recieve calls ok and make them ok the incoming reception and sound is spot on but everyone says my reponces are very weak and suffering bad interference. They tell me its like a bad radio reception with lots of static. It does this with the engine on or off.
Any ideas???
