Can someone tell me the telephone type to use in the factory telephone cradle on a yr 2002, s430 ?
What is the best option for an upgrade for the current cell phones ?
I live in a poor reception( Verizon) area in San Jose, CA, so I really wanted to use the external antenna. With this in mind, I saw that either the MIKbox or a new v60s might be the most economical solution. I purchased a Mercedes V60S and the v60S cradle PNQ6020925. However the existing wiring to the v60i cradle is different to the wiring required for the v60s cradle. What is the solution for this ? Does it require some sort of adapter, new wire or new wire and other parts ? As you can see from my first post on this subject, it took me quite a while to get to this point.
Looks like I have a new cradle for S430, MY 2004 but my car's wiring is for S430 MY 2002.
What is the best way around this ?
Should I buy the new cradle from MikBox for the v60s or can I buy an adapter for the 2002 cable for the 2004 cradle ?
Or can I buy a new cable for this cradle which will work in an S430 yr 2002 ?
Am I going to need more parts ?
One thing is common -- the Motorola phone connector on both cradles.
( I have an old cradle for v60i for my car, but of course the v60s does not fit into it !)

Thanks in advance for the help.
The V60s cradle should have had adapters for the connectors. The newer cradle uses FAKRA connectors (a type of industry standard). The older cradles do not. However, as you correctly pointed out, the V60s phone will not fit into the older V60 series cradle.
The newer V60s cradle, if supplied by a dealer, should have had those adapters included - as Big Mel, another forum contributor, informed us when he did a similar upgrade. His cradle had part number BQ 682 0925, and it had the adapters for older cars supplied. That's a different part number than you purchased - perhaps your dealer will exchange it.

Skylaw,
Thank you for the help. Part of the 8 was "rubbed-off' to look like a French Zero, with a diagonal bar through the 0, like used in some computer programs. It is actually Q 682 0925. I will visit the dealer to see if I can get the adapter for my model car.
I have still not located the parts to convert the old MY 2002 cable for the MY2004 V60S cradle, but I found that I could use the v60S in the cradle already in the car with one intermittent issue ( Of course its a tight fit !). The phone seems to work fine including the VRM but there are time when the party being called cannot hear anything. I can receive the incoming audio just fine. I have successfully made calls where the incoming and outgoing audio has worked fine but this is in about 20-30% of the cases. Has anybody else experienced this ? Is this likely a cradle or a V60s phone problem ? Thanks.
They have experienced the problem. it is because the tight fit between the old cradle and the puck is causing some contacts not to be made, or to be poorly made.
If indeed you have a V60s cradle, you should not be having the problem (and there would be no need to replace it); are you sure you don't have an smaller V60 cradle?
