Mercedes CD changer
Guys,
I have just bought a 2003 CLK240 here in Thailand and it has a Sony XAVW-i touch screen car audio system, When i got the car home in Phuket I tried to load some CD's into the Mercedes CD changer but I could not get it to open.
I got my wife to take the car to an audio shop here in Phuket and she was told that the Mercedes CD changer will only work with the Mercedes car audio system, she was told the same thing by the guy at the Benz showroom in Phuket?
My question is, is that true or a BS story? If it is true can someone reccomend a good CD changer that will also play DVD's
Thanks in advance
Answered in the other location you posted, but repeated for other readers.
Your CD changer uses the fiber optics bus for input to the head unit. The only fiber optics head units I am aware of that work with Mercedes are those supplied by Mercedes.
I believe your 3rd party system has replaced the Mercedes head unit; therefore the CD changer will not function. You would also have lost any other original equipment functions that work through the Mercedes head unit (phone, navigation, voice control); however, those features may have been incorporated into the 3rd party add-on.
You probably need to look for a CD changer (or perhaps a DVD player) that is compatible with the Sony unit installed.
