My stock Radio player (Becker Europa cassette radio MB Special with traffic news decoder (VK), with RDS (с 01.07.1992)is kaput - the volume control is erratic and the mute and source buttons don't work anymore. I went to my local shop and they told me they could fix it in a matter of minutes. The catch is, they said, i have to know "CODE" of the radio otherwise when they put it back in it won't work. What codes? Is there any site where i can retrieve those codes (e.g. by using my VIN)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PS my VIN is WDB2100351A071228 . If anybody can please give me the code, please email me at manstumanda@gmail.com Thanks!

It is the security code that is supposed to protect the radio from stealing (making it unusable if stolen and then less of interest for burglars). Of course then no web site that would readily give the code.
Don't you have the car documents, a small label with the code? If not, ask your dealer, they may give it for free (some may ask for a small fee).
Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I have the car documents and all manuals (i'm actually the 3rd owner) but nothing indicates a radio code or anything. I'm actually planning on replacing it with a Pioneer HU in a few weeks but I'd really like to get this fixed before then. It's a cassette deck so I really doubt anybody would be interested at all in stealing this in the first place.
Come to think of it, here in the Philippines, nobody really steals radios from MBs (nobody messes with MBs in fact, period). Well, nobody steals car radios anymore as a matter of fact, what with the influx of Taiwan and China-made fully functional radios at a fifth of the cost.
May i also mention how "unfriendly" and highstrung our dealerships are especially with second or third-hand imports that did not come from them (hence, they did not get any commission out of). Non-distributor shops and mechanics specializing in Benzes, especially old model ones, have been exponentially thriving due to the high-handedness of traditional dealerships. Dealerships prefer working and rubbing elbows with the elites (the ones who bought the new models). Tought luck for a poor sod like me. Heheh
Yep, i could very well go to them tomorrow too if i can find the time (as i'm sure it would be futile to request for help through a phonecall). I'm just hoping that somehow i could avoid going through that trouble for a shitty casette player like mine

So, can you please help me?

At least you spent time explaining your case unlike many who request the code, and your story seems authentic. If I had access to the codes, I might PM you the info.
Back to the radio code, it would be a separate small sticker, nothing like a full sheet of paper.
