1) Pop out the wooden (simulated wood, plastic) cover surrounding the shifter. Use your muscles.
2) Remove the ashtray. There are two little black tabs that you have bend out of the way slightly.
3) Two screws holding the climate control panel need to be removed underneath. You will need a Torx tool, size 10 I think?
4) Two of the four screws holding in the main stereo are revealed. Take them out.
5) Pull out the panel above the stereo (the accessory panel, seatwarmers, etc.) There are no screws holding this in. Just use your muscles. Start from the right side of the panel. You can use a flat screwdriver.
6) Remove the other two screws from the main stereo now visible.
7) Pull out the stereo. Remove the wiring harness from the stereo. Unplug the fiber optic plug from main harness. (you will see two thin orange wires)
8)Plug the fiber optic connector into the same location on the replacement harness. Plug the new harness into the stereo.
NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO CONNECT ALL OF THE CABLES AND iPod AND TEST THE COMPONENTS BEFORE CONTINUING WITH THE INSTALLATION... AND HAVE SOME SCOOBY SNACKS.
9) Remove the glove compartment door. You will have to remove a little plastic pin from the plastic piston on the right side of the door. You will then have to use your muscles again to bend the sides of the GC door in a little in order to get it to swing down towards the floorboard for removal.
10) Remove two screws from the underside of the dash behind where the glove compartment was. Pull out the black cover/panel.
11) Poke out the little perforated circular tab on the right side of where the glove compartment was. This is where you will feed the iPod/Cat5 connector cable through.
12) Feed the module box cable/connector through the back area of where the stereo sits and out to where you just removed the black panel from under your dash.
13) Feed the iPod/Cat5 cable through the perforated tab and out the right side (you will have to pop out the small grey panel on the right side of the glove compartment area, only visible when the passenger door is open) continue to feed the Cat5 connector under the dash to where you just removed the black panel from.
14) You now have the module connecter and the Cat5 connecter under the dash in the area where you will secure the black box module. Connect both of the cables to the module. I suggest you wrap/stick the included soft velcro strip around the box. Then adhere one of the abrasive velcro rectangles up under the dash some where where it is up and out of the way. (see picture) Shove the module up in there and stick it to the velcro.
15) Connect iPod. Press and hold CDC on stereo to initiate AUX mode. You will see that the iPod is recognized by the car by looking at the driver's dash info. You can now control your iPod with the steering wheel buttons; playlist, albums, everything.
16) Put everything back the way you found it... while listening to music.
