Has anyone managed to get the above working? The phone doesn't even see the car bluetooth. I've enabled the remote SIM option on the phone, and made it discoverable. As far as I can tell, there's nothing that needs to be done to the car bluetooth to set in 'search mode', as there's no buttons on it.
This is on an '07 UK spec SLK280, a Nokia E61i, and the SAP V2 Bluetooth module, part #A 204 820 05 35. The literature says it works with the E61, so has the .i really made that much difference? I have no problem pairing anything else up with the phone (of course!).
Not E61 but got my N95 working quite easily.
You say 'no buttons on it' but you should have pressed and held the button on the B\T module for 3 seconds (until the LEDs flash quickly) to make the module discoverable??

I agree, the "no buttons on it" doesn't make sense. Should read the BT device manual first and then try again.
The only button on the unit is the release button....you mean that one? I'll go try it anyway, but as far as I can tell, it's just used to unlock the cradle from the socket?
Ooohhh....the Merc logo is a button....jeez, would it kill them to mention that in the useless instructions? Anyway, now I dont know what the passkey is, I've tried 1234 and 0000....will try to Google that...
OK, so it turns out that I think I'm missing an important manual...I've got the one that's specific to certain handsets, but the other one, which I assumed was jsut the same but in other languages, is in fact the instructions for installing the BT module.
Anyway, some how I finally got the 2 things paired. I assume this now gives me the following problems:
1. Sending SMS is now tortuous, via the COMAND interface?
2. eMails to the pone will not come through unless I disable the Remote Sim function
3. No phonebook via COMAND, and no dialing via the handset, so the worst of both worlds?
I presume, with this module, there's no way to have it just act as a headset profile, rather than remote SIM? As I'm in the car commuting for 4 or 5hrs per day, I can't be doing with not getting emails and SMS.

Google should not give you the pass key. Once the BT puck tries to connect with your phone, it would give the code on the Comand screen and the phone would request you to enter the same code (16 digits).
He's got a Nokia E61i, on Nokia phones the phone book download is usually automatic, no need to dial 0000, it usually only downloads the SIM directory. I remember someone being successful with the phone memory when installing the N616 phone book transfer application, not sure about that.
