Thanks for the quick response. I've actually ordered the IVE1000 for the video, so I'll let you know how it works once I get everything installed. Don't hold your breath...I don't even pretend to be technically proficient enough to pull this off on my own, so I'm trying to find someone that can do it for me.

the IVE-1000 will only break out ipod signals to audio/video RCA jacks... It does not do anything to get those signals *into* the command. For that you will need an RGB converter like the GNET piece to send the video to the command itself...

Hi!

The successor of IVE1000 is at the door now!
Its name is Dension AVR (Audio Video Router). When connected to GW500, it simulates a TV-Tuner besides CDC, so the video is displayed on the Comand.

It has iPod video browser though Comand, DVD, AV and 3x reverse cam inputs. Outputs for Comand and RSE.
Controls are done through CDC interface and through Videotext.
It also has integrated video-in-motion possibility where allowed!

Thanks, GW 500 - we will watch with anticipation.

Will it work with older hardware (Gen 1 or 2 boxes), or only newer?

Will there be iPod video capability on MY '06 and earlier U.S. COMANDs? (Those cannot display DVD video at all).

All Gateway hardwares are supported of course.

When looking at compatibility the main point is whether there was a TV-Tuner option for that head unit or not. The DVD playback capability is not in question.

Thanks for the update, Rob. I looked into the GNET option, and at this point I'm not really surprised that the W220 is missing from their list. Oh well!

Thats actually pretty cool but i am assuming that you would need a euro command with the green FAKRA input on the back to use this new piece...

Yes, exactly.
How the US Comands accept TV/revcam signals?

Without modification, at least '06 and prior, they don't.

1st pass at the install of Version 3 hardware on an '05 S class didn't go so well. Hoping someone can shed some light on what went wrong.

1st of all, I'm confident that the changes to the F/O in the trunk were done as described in Skylaw's post on the 2nd page of this thread. The F/O wire leading out of the GW500 was going into the CDC in the trunk.

Where I'm lost is how to complete the connections at the COMAND unit, and the position of the DIP switches. According to the revised Install Guide from Dension, there should be 2 F/O wires going into the GW500 and 2 more wires coming out of it. Where do the 2 wires for the "CDC Side" come from, and what are they supposed to be plugged into? The back of the COMAND unit only has room for 2 wires.

I tried plugging the wires from COMAND into the "Car" side of the GW500, but when everything was connected COMAND gave me a message that said "System Unavailable" and then powered off. I assume this is because the F/O ring wasn't completed - but I'd be happy to hear other theories.

We tried several different positions on the DIP switches (evidently Version 2 that Skylaw has only has 4, while Version 3 has 6), but we kept getting the same result. One point worth mentioning is that I didn't know that I needed to leave the car "Off" for 2 minutes in order to reset the F/O bus, so we may have tried the correct combo on the DIP switches but it didn't work because the F/O bus hadn't been properly reset.

I'm hoping someone out there can offer some insight on what may solve the problem.
