I have a 2000 S500 and recently purchased a used complete set of the MB nav disks for 2005 (thru eBay). These, I find, do not work in my nav system. Does anyone have data on disk interchangeability? I'd like to sell these to someone who can actually use them, and buy the right upgrade.
Thanks!

You may want to do a search for the specifics but I believe there were different versions, A, B, C, etc and I believe, this is the part you may want to do the search on, that there was a change of head units some time in the 2000MY and the earlier disks dont' work on the later or vise versa. Do a search and you'll probably find more info than you want.

The following link tells you why, and has another link to help you determine what kind of nav system you have. The best source of CDs for your system is the dealer. There is a link to an alternate source in the following link as well: http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/sho...ghlight=Skylaw
If your e-bay discs won't work there are two likely possibilities: They were for the other system, or they were pirated.
Good luck. The change from C nav to D nav in the midst of the production year (I believe it was November of 99) causes problems for a lot of folks.

Since you say your CDs are 2005 (hopefully 11/05 not the 01/05) they should be for NAV D. If you have NAV D and they still don't work, check to make sure they are made by NAVTEQ. Skylaw's link should help you a lot. Please report back.
I misspoke... my disks are release 01/04. I was working from memory and had a senior moment. Tonight I'll check to see which nav system I have, per Skylaw

Those are three years old and the map data were probably collected four years ago, but if they are NAVTEQ and you have NAV D they should work in your COMAND system.
