I want to change all the speakers in my c280. I opened all the grills and all 8 speakers are mounted to custom plates/mounts. None of the speakers i purchased fit the openings without those mounts, which of course are fastend to the OEM speakers. I'm sure many of you have changed your speakers and and any advice on where to find those mounts or what speakers will fit without mounts (if there are any) would really help.
I found that i have the same issue with my 95 C280. the computer at best buy states that the sizes are 6 1/4 for the fronts, and 5 1/4 for the rear doors. when i removed the speaker covers, the speaker that fits into the mount is only a 2 1/2 in the rear doors. I still havent figured out a way to get a speaker to fit without the mounts, but i am gonna just pay to have someone do em. If you get any info on that later, I'd appreciate an update. I'll let you know what happens.
