W221 DVD Region Problem

I live in South Africa and have recently bought a 2006 S500. My problem is that I would like to change the region settings on the DVD player to accept all regions DVD's

Can anyone please mail me with the correct procedure to do this, as well as the procedure to unlock the centre screen from the annoying message that pops up when the vehicle is in motion.

You mean you would like to play DVDs that are for a different region from South Africa, not that your car would be set to an incorrect region? In the first case I doubt a dealer service guy would change it.

I haven't seen any advice to tweak the w221 DVD settings. The only thing I can think of is to use some PC software to copy the DVD and burn it region free.

That's exactly my problem. I think I'll speak to the local distributor tomorrow & see if they're willing to reprogram the DVD for me. If not then I don't know what to do.

I don't like copying stuff.

There has been information posted concerning accessing the hidden menus in COMAND (including how to activate mp3 capability, change region code of COMAND, etc.) - but the codes were changed for MY 2006 and later, according to what I read. vikingprince posted a link on this forum.

In addition I have read elsewhere that changing the region codes for COMAND (vice changing them on the DVDs) is limited in the number of times it can be done, after which DVD capability no longer works on COMAND. It's not something you'd want to fool around with - at least, not often.
