2003 E Class Steering Wheel

Hi there I would like to know if anyone out there has changed the steering wheel on there E Class. I have a new steering wheel to install in mine but when I loosened the screws on the back of the wheel and pulled out the centre section horn/airbag I could not figure out how to disconnect the clips for the air bag. I did not want to pry to much just in case they would break. There is 1 plug that goes to the steering column were the steering wheel bolt is and there is 3 plugs that are on the back of the centre section/Horn airbag. Were do I disconnect from and how. I tried but couldn't get the wiring clips to unclip from either end.

Thanks Joe

The SRS connectors will have a lock that is located in the center of the connector. It usually is a different color. If you use a small screw driver you can pop up the center lock and then the connector will come out. The center lock should not become disconnected from the connector, just pops up about 3-5 mm.

My dealer charged me $45 to install my steering wheel as opposed to me doing it myself and maybe damaging or deploying a thousand dollar air bag...

Seemed like a good deal to me...
