After searching through several threads, I was wondering if anybody has been succesful linking a non-Ipod MP3 player to the COMMAND unit in an 03 w211 car. I was looking to do this using an aftermarket approach if possible.

What I'm looking for exactly is to find out if I can purchase the AUX in cable from MB or a car electronics store. I just want to hear music through my stereo, I don't need the display function or wheel controls. Any replies would be fantastic.
The first question is do you have a comand ? or a audio 50 headunit ? if you have a comand then you will have a aux. jack in the glove box. If you have a audio 50 then you will have to go aftermarket fm modulator or similar or upgrade to comand. The comand has a nav and sat button large screen etc... the audio 50 has a small screen w/ a cassette deck.

Free maintenance ? buy a Bimmer......
why would you do that if you can take the car to the dealer and update the command through software to read MP3 off of your cd player?
Thats only applicable to a Comand not a early audio 50 head unit.
700mb on a disc vs. /......................endless possiblities.........
He most likley has audio 50 headunit not a comand and a O.E changer from 2003 that doese not play mp3's.
Sam,
I read your earlier post where you said if you have command, the auxiliary jack would be in the glove box. I was wondering if this is true for the 2002
W220 as well. I looked and i cannot find it, but i thought maybe you might know where it is.
Thanks,
Matt

Matt, see post #2 at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...tergation.html. Bottom line is, among the 2000-2006 W220, only the '03 S-Class had an aux input (sigh). Other models had them, but for inexplicable reasons MB shorted the W220 for that.
