I accidentally killed my CD changer by... uhm... well... taking it apart and fiddling with it. It's bugging me that I have a nice car and STILL no CD player (my last car, '93 Honda Accord, didn't have one either). But, I'm not sure which one to get. There are so many different P/N's that claim to work with my car so I assume there must be differences (other than fiber / non-fiber because I know I need fiber). What are the differences and which one is the best?
If you want to know for sure that you will get the proper CD changer (refurbished, though), that works in your car and can be installed in the glovebox (where it should be)... email Steve@MBenzNL.com.
Normally the CD changer originally fitted in your C203 should use the system with fiber optics.(D2B), if you connect another cd changer with this function, the e-call system or another components fitted on the radio will not work.
First, you can trust Big Sis' response. MBenzNL is a good outfit, according to what I read in the forums. She, Steve (her brother) and Scorchie are part of it.
If you proceed on your own, you can determine the proper CD changer for your car through the phone bulletins (yes, phone bulletins) on Paul's website at http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/phone_bulletins.htm

I used to have a 2001 C320. I believe you are looking for part number: A 203-820-90-89, model Number:MC3010. I would recommend www.mbdoctor.com or seller id wwwmbdoctorcom on ebay - I bought my CD changer from him a couple of years ago, he has refurbished CD changers at a fraction of the price of the dealership. Don't forget to buy the brackets too from him because if you buy them at the dealership, prepare for sticker shock.
