Just bought an 02 CLK 320 with the original Motorola Timeport integrated phone set up for Sprint service in Houston. Phone worked fine under prior owners name, but when he disconnected it and we tried to reconnect in our name, nobody could or would reprogram the phone to work. We've tried Sprint, the dealer and Motorola, and get different stories from all, even within the same organization. Does anyone know why an original equipment Mercedes Timeport set up for Sprint can't be connected for Sprint service? Dealer says have to start all over for $2500. Not trying to upgrade or switch carriers or use a non-Mercedes phone, just trying to get the original system to work. Alternatively, if we find a Mercedes Timeport handsetset up for Vorizon, could we hook up with Vorizon and use the integrated system?
There is no reason you should not be able to switch a Sprint phone to Sprint service under a new number. The only problem could be with a new activation on Sprint. Since January all Verizon and (I think) Sprint activations require you use a FCC E911 compliant phone. The Timeports and V60i are not. If you are switching an existing Sprint account/phone number you should be able to do it yourself or at least Sprint should be able to do it, although many techs are clueless ...
I may have the Sprint/Timeport programming instructions at home .... in the meantime there is some good info on my website about phones at:
Same problem with Verizon ... new activations may require the new V60s E911 compliant phone. You can upgrade your vehicle but it's about $1000 (including new phone) to do so.
I'll see what I can find tonight for programming.
Paul

Thank you, Paul. It was a new activation, as we were on Vorizon After swiching three phones from Vorizon to Sprint just to use the new Timeport, Sprint tried several times, both by phone and at tech center to reprogram, but they can't and say they don't know why they can't. I have one Vorizon account left and have located a Vorizon programmed Mercedes Timeport handset at a local cell phone store. I take it you think if I try to switch the Vorizon account to a Vorizon handset, I may not have the compliance problem I had it trying to switch to Sprint? Thanks again for your help.
It is still a unclear to me why they can't reprogram the phone. Being e911 complaint or not shouldn't stop them from getting into program mode. Is the problem they can't put the phone into program mode becasue the password has been changed ... which also doesn't make sense, they should be able to get around that?? Weird???
I have the V60 programming info but I don't think I have it for a Timeport. If you send me an e-mail address I can send that to you at least, and you can see if the V60 codes/programming works in the Tiemport, although I suspect not ....
Paul, it's jiriha@hotmail.com. One particular Sprint tech tried very hard by phone, but it wouldn't take and he didn't know why. Maybe with info you supply, we can try again. Thanks.
I'm having the same problem with Sprint trying to activate a Sprint MB Motorola v60x. I can't even get a signal. The phone just states "No Service". Sprint hasn't been much help. I am going to attempt a second store visit to see if they can get it going.
Paul, I know it's somewhat a new phone, but do you have the programming instructions for this phone? I think that is where the problem is.
After many, many hours both on the phone and in person with Sprint, Mercedes and Motorola, and after at least the same number of wrong answers, the problem has been solved. For anyone experiencing the same problem, there is a special phone number for "Sprint for Mercedes" - 866 727-2886. Ask for either Jamie or Simone.
