Hooking i-pod to car radio

I want to hard wire my ipod into my radio...ideally, have a jack on my dash to plug into...I am fairly good with a soldering iron...I have a basic Pioneer receiver...not a pre amp/ amp design...No aux on the rear...Can I accomplish my goal? I DO NOT want to do the wireless transmitter option

Your best bet is to buy a head unit that has a Auxillary Input. Or wait for Alpine's unit that is coming out later this year with built-in iPod controls.

you can go to ultimate wireless or audio king or whatever you have near you similar to those. they make an adapter that plugs into your cd changer plug on the back of the deck. then you just plug the other end of the cord into the headphone jack of the ipod.

I suppose that would depend on what year car you have. I doubt they have a fiber optic (what most of the newer Benzes use) version of what you speak of.

Dension has an adapter but I don't know if it will work with your Pioneer. They have one for M Bus radios and a number of others.

Sorry, just checked and IceLink doesn't work with Pioneer. That Alpine is sounding like the best way to go. Haven't seen more than the press release so far though.

Also, IceLink doesn't work with Mercedes at all.

Depends...

That depends...Are we talking stock and from what year? Once someone has made mod's, it isn't so straight forward [;)] I don't think AlanS told us what he is putting this into.

You are right, it won't work with the most fiber systems, AI-net, etc. I do believe that Dension is considering a product for Mercedes if they can see interest in such a product.
