2001 CLK - Command Retrofit

I have a 2001 CLK that I would like to upgrade to Command. Can you help me with what is required? I have the following questions:

- What is the best source for the parts for this upgrade?
- Who would be the best person to approach for installation? I'm located in San Jose, CA.

- Would the Command unit I get be DVD based - or CD based, as was available for the 2001 CLK?
- The car is also equipped with Bose and 6 disc changer - any problems?
- Any thoughts on a US vs. Euro spec unit? If Euro spec was installed, would the TV Tuner be an option?
- Would this unit have an AUX input? I'm hoping for a place to plug in the Ipod.
- What version of Maps would it include? Where is the best source for new maps?
- Any idea of costs for parts and installation?

As the reply to you on the other forum said, Steve is the only way to go. He installed my COMAND.

You will get cd based COMAND. The DVD based COMAND's use a different communications protocol on the fiber loop.

The Bose and changer are just fine.

The Euro spec COMAND is slightly easier to connect to video sources. Be aware that you won't be able to receive all the US AM radio stations, though.

Steve can install an AUX input. He did for me.

Steve won't provide map cd's. I bought a Blaupunkt cd from www.continentalimports.com Bosch/Blaupunkt makes the COMAND. Disks for an Audi will work also.
