Dealers know Rolex are waterproof, and don't look on in horror when you tell them you got it wet.
Waterproof and reliability are what Rolex are all about. Since I bought mine MANY people with Rolex have given me stories about how they used to go through a watch every year or two, now have used the same one for 20years.
Your friend had a fake.
