My Real Surname is Hughes - "Brian Boru" was a very famous king of Ireland - sort of got stuck with it as a nickname even though I am not Irish. Anyway, glad to make your aquantance. My families claim to fame is that we were part of the Iraq " Human Shield " as I was part of the Kuwait Liaison group back in 1990 when Sadman, and I use that word advisedly, Hussein invaded and my family spent 31 days as hostages with myself putting in a very respectable 117 days - hence, nowadays, I don't give a F***.

Are you retired now or still working for a living? For my part I look after 33 specialist workshops Benz/BMW/Porsche and Audi, which means a lot of traveling around china. Been here 17 years now and my skin has gone yellow:eek:

Wow - some sort of job you've got - for my part, I am still working - still got a few years to push (I'm 57 next month) and I am the building services manager for National Grid at their HQ where all of the electricity supplies for UK are controlled from. Don't get to travel too much nowadays as my wife has recently had a kidney transpant and is a bit delicate!!!

Sorry to hear about the wife, hope she fully recovers. We are about the same age. I will be 59 this year, my Chinese wife is 35, go figure LOL no wonder I love China.:D

After the Army I could not settle and me and the first wife ended in divorce so I buggered off to Hong kong and took a job rebuilding classic Mercedes Benz and then was offered a job in China, that was in 94 and I have never seen England since.

Today and for the next week I am in Yangzhou and then on to Tizou for two weeks and after a short drive to Nanjing to open a new branch, this bit I like because I only have to give a speech and then on with the nosh and booze:D

Thanks for your kind reply regarding the wife - she'll be fine - tough old bugger. Not going anywhere near the chinese wifes age though, you lucky b******!
Sounds like some sort of life you have - glad we met through this forum, totally unexpected, maybe, one of these days we could skype one another - might be interesting. I now live about 8 miles from Arborfield Garrison on the far side of Wokingham, although the garrison has long gone and shipped out to Borden, mores the pity. If there is any memorabilia which you would like to get your hands on, just give me a shout as the REME Museum and shop is still there and I am still a member of the Corps Sergeants Mess and have been to some lovely Regimental dinners their, although it pisses me off as I have to wear a Tuxedo and not my mess dress!!!
