I believe that you check oil with the electronic sensor, but is there a dipstick or not?

Dipstick explanation from MB dealer

I was advised that the dipstick that you could buy, for about $ 60.00, was not permanent, but a shop tool only.

The reading of the stick is also a bit different, as the markings on stick are compared to a chart to determine oil level reading, depending on car's engine.

So....you could check the oil periodically, but stick stays in your garage or possibly in the trunk I suppose.

Correct, when M272 (350) replaced M112 (320) in the W211, dipsticks returned.

I feel the same way, as the OM642 (GL) has dipstick, which the OM648 (E-class) doesn't, and I'd prefer the dashboard readout.

This is a REALLY TINY issue, with the dashboard readout the better solution.
