The feature (moving the front passenger seat forward) is necessary to assure there is enough room to fold the 2nd row seat forward. If that didn't happen it would be necessary to add a sliding door! The big issue seems to be if the car can be 'taught' to return the front seat to whatever position it was in before the 2nd row seat folded. I'm not sure of the answer, but try approaching the Service Advisor with that question.
