I am not a mechanic, but it seems to me if you have just bought this vehicle, it may have been just tarted up to sell. ie put heavy oil in the engine sump to cut down burning oil because the rings are worn, or the valve guides could be worn.,. Then as the vehicle warms up the oil becaomes thinner and gets past the valves/rings into the combustion chamber and burns.
Then again it just maybe a simple fuel mix adjustment. If it was my vehicle I would get a good mechanic to check it out estimate how much to repair, then you can decide to fix or sell.
