Hey Jacob it's been a long time not sure if you remember me, Erick? I had a 190E and used to talk with you and your uncle. The engine died and I had to get rid of it. Been driving a Ford Escape up until few days ago when I bought a 2002 ML320. Hope you and your car are doing well! Erick

Hello Jacob... I am in dire need of a right tail light... Actually all I need is the cover... The housing and reflector are still good. I was rear ended on the 4th, and was able to pound out the dents myself, but there is nothing I can do about the broken plastic... Can you help?

    Jacob,

Yes, your uncle and I do speak quite often and he has mentioned you before. Some enthusiasts take things a bit far, and forget that they've started somewhere to. But such behavior never encourages a healthy forum or learning experience, and it discourages anyone from asking anything as they'll be made out to be idiots. At any rate, it's a pleasure to have met you!

one side is is ground and you hook it up to the door pin, the side that has no continuity to ground when the switch is pushed in. and the other side you can hook it up to the constant 12volt from the ignition harness but remember to fuse it properly. what i did was since i had other lights hooked up to the circuit i ran another 12volt wire straight from the battery.

I have the opportunity to take over a landscaping business, and would need a truck to do so. :( Unless I can figure out a way to keep the 190, I may have to get rid of it.

Hopefully will figure something else out.

I will be on BenzWorld no matter what - even in between MB :)

PS: I am sure your uncle just doesn't want you to get stuck with a car that is expensive and unreliable - just looking out for you ;)

    Goodnight,

    Hey Jacob,

I absolutely love my W201 - hands down. However, if you do not work on your own vehicle, I can see how it can get very expensive to own a Mercedes. Another important aspect to consider is how it was taken care of by the previous owner. Just to give you an idea, over the past year I have had to do the following to my W201: wheel bearing, rear brakes, tires, coil, and ignition switch. I did all of the work myself, so the total cost to own this car for the past year has been about $300. I don't consider that bad at all. It's totally up to you - I love mine, and love driving it - and that is why I keep it ;)

    Good luck,

    Erick

    Hey Jacob,

Welcome to BenzWorld! My name is Erick. Congratulations on your purchase! Do you have any pictures? Is it a 5 speed or auto? 2.6 or 2.3L? Your uncle is a really good guy, enjoy talking with him very much. I told your uncle that if he ever needs any help, to let me know - same goes for you. I am 25 myself, when I was 16 I owned a 92' Eagle Talon TSi AWD with 350 WHP :) I would've loved to have one of these cars when I was 16, they are great - look good, comfortable, drive well, and it's a MB :)

Again, congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forum! There are a lot of good people on this site and 190rev.net. Lot's of good information and people there as well. If I can help or answer any questions feel free to ask.

    Thanks,

    Erick
