Albert, I went to my local Autozone store today and bought the following item thanks to you.

I then plugged the Vector 12 Volt Lighter Plug Type LCD Battery Tester p/n VEC008 for $12.99 into my cig lighter, ignition ON. I received a stable 12.2 volt baseline reading.

BTW, I received a 13.7 volt reading with the engine running. When I turned the engine off the reading went to 12.5 volts and stabilized again at 12.2 volts.
