Good new on the MAFS , bad news on the engine management light, you will need to get this deleted depending on the year pre 2000 you may need to go to MB or MB indi.
after 2000 any garage should have diagnostics that will clear the light .
hand help as shown on my site will clear most trouble codes. although this happened before normally the repaired mafs clears the fault when re-fitted.
did you observe the rule and allow it to stand for a short wwhile after the battery was connected, and did you follow the battery connection procedure of turning on at least side lights.
Although MB say turn off all services, they have daignostics to clear fault lamps. To avoid the spike of power hitting the ECU always put your light switch to at least side lights posotion or the lamp mmay light even after fitting just the barttery, this applies to New bqattery as well .

Dash lights, battery could well be but I would expect the lights to dim when I turned the ignition key to start posiition, so could be battery could be starter switch. if your battery is over 4 years old it's suspect.

both are covered on my site Albert Rowe, Lofty's homepage. A-class info, wine making, solar panels, scotland, canada rockies, orchids.
