A few weeks ago, I removed the wheel from my 90 300E and fit it on my 86 190E 2.3 16V. The 16V had a Sparco racing wheel on it and the one off the 300E was identical to the OE wheel for the 16V. On the 300CE, I fit a wheel from a later model E400. NO problems with either and the fit is correct. Before doing any wheel swaping, make sure you disconnect your battery for at least 30min. You don't want any chance of there being any electrical charge left in a resistor causing the airbag to go off. And if you have an OE Becker radio, make sure you have the code on hand before disconnecting the battery.

Good Luck,

Jayare
