I was looking for any old promotional material that mentions that the B class was originally intended to be sold in the USA and came across this article regarding the next generation production of the A & B.

Can any one help me with anything that actually says that the car was originally intended to be sold in the USA? I know it's out there but I can’t find anything like that now.
