    Hi Scott,
When I did my transmission change the level showed about an inch above the full mark. I had some clear plastic pipe and fed it down the dipstick hole, I then put my finger over the top hole of the pipe pulled it out a few times and emptied it. In all fairness when the level had fallen below the max line to bring it into spec I had taken less than 100ml out. Didn't seem much of an overfill to me for a 9 litre capacity, but MB say not to overfill so I just did it, may have been a different approach if I knew it was going to be leaking out.

Thanks a lot for that my friend, I have not removed the console before, just got the car last week, I watched the video on youtube and it looks ok to do once I get the radio removal tools and the cluster removal tools, car is quite good but there 4 or 5 dash bulbs out and that annoys me lol, many thanks, Jim.

    Hello Norman:

Do you know of a scan tool that can read and reset the SRS light on a 1995 SL500, other than the M-B SDS tool?

    Thanks, Arctic

    Hi Arctic,
Mine is Atlas Grey (Matt) Metallic 7181

If you go to the colour link I posted on your thread. Click on colour then put in your year, then Mercedes. Scroll down to Two tone colours until you find your top colour 040 it will show the bottom colour which appears correct as 7700.
It is worthwhile book marking this site or printing the colours off for future reference

    Regards
    Norman

    Hi Poundy:

On that beautiful 1992 500SL of yours, with the two-tone color scheme, can you confirm that the bumper/skirt color is:

Alto Grey (matt) Metallic, Color CODE 7700?

I have the same lower color with my Black (Code 040) 1995 SL500.

Thanks, and May God Bless, Arctic

    Norman,

I'll look into it over the weekend. Am totally busy with expanding the cylinder rebuild business to other makes and models...
