Have you tried those? I did buy Jetta wagon tdi for my project 500 miles away few years ago. 2 years ago when my project ended, I already had a buyer scheduled to come, when my wife's ML got totaled. I put the sale on hold and asked her if she wants to drive Jetta for now.
She took it for a ride and come with the answer "no freaking way". Those are nice cars when you have economy in mind, but are several levels below MB in comfort and safety.
You know, wifes don't have to worry about economy.
