| I wonder if it could be a bad MAF sensor? A family member just had this issue with an S-Class. The acceleration was a bit lacking at time, despite the fact that there was no Check Engine Light. The dealer ran a few tests (actually they ran it 3 times!) on the MAF sensor voltage, and found that on the 3rd time, the sensor voltage reading was erroneous.
After changing this, the car is back to its normal and expected engine power.
